The large white building on the Northwest corner of the "Historic Square" in downtown Canton, Mississippi, is the only Banquet and Meeting Facility on the Courthouse Square.

The building was originally built by the federal government in 1910 and completed in 1915, confirmed by the cornerstone honoring the architect that designed the building.

In 2006 David W. Gilmore, real-estate investor, developer, and broker for Gilmore Madison Land & Development, purchased the building from the County of Madison.

The county purchased the building from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 and it has been used for several different things. It last served as the Justice Court Building for several years.

The majestic old building set vacant and in need of many repairs and cosmetic improvements. When you click on the "Photo" link you will be impressed with the new "masterpiece on the square" as it has recently been labeled.

David Gilmore's company started renovations on March 15, 2006. The historic renovation was completed in late June 2006.

David gives the credit to his wife Teresa for the elegant feel you have when you enter the lobby area and "Gathering Room". Stately southern Charm would describe the decor and overall design of the Greek Revival architecture of the Grand Old Post Office.
